Robert Reynolds is the character known as The Sentry, a powerful superhero from Marvel Comics. He first appeared in The Sentry #1 (March 2000).
Reynolds was a drug addict who, seeking a fix, broke into a laboratory and ingested an experimental serum, a super-soldier formula far more potent than Captain America's. This granted him immense power, including superhuman strength, speed, flight, and energy projection.
However, The Sentry's immense power is intrinsically linked to a dark counterpart known as The Void. In order to save the world from The Void's destructive impulses, Reynolds was manipulated to believe he never existed, and his memory was erased from the minds of everyone on Earth, including his own. This effectively contained The Void, but also robbed the world of a powerful protector. His memory and powers have resurfaced on multiple occasions leading to conflicts and requiring great sacrifice.
